Nationals over Diamondbacks 17-5

The rain has finally gone away, the sun was shining, and the Diamondbacks and Nationals were ready to play. Christian Prizio got the start for the Nats and Angad Pannu got the start for the red hot Diamondbacks.

In the top of the first Christian continued his great pitching on the year retiring the side in order on 2 K's and a great play from James Flanagan at second base on a tough bounce.

In the bottom of the first the Nationals bats stayed hot. Kieran Kelly laced a single to left, followed by some timely walks and another hit from Will Tonelli to lead the Nationals out in front 5-0.

In the top of the second Christian kept rolling. Two more K's and a come-backer to him retired the side.

In the bottom of the second, the Nationals bats kept on it. Holden May started it off by lacing a ball to third. Jacob Linton made a great play and a huge throw to first to get Holden out! More timely walks to Logan Dipilato, Teo Yilmaz, and Kieran followed by great hits from James, Max Caputo, and Andrew Blanchette got the score up to 10-0.

The Diamondbacks would get on the board in the top of the third as Angad Panuu drove the ball towards second with the bases loaded. Kieran made a great play for the force at second base but two runs would score. 10-2

In the bottom of the inning the Nationals would get those runs back. Although Holden was denied a hit the previous inning he would not this time as he ripped it up the middle for a run. a few more walks and HBP made it 12-2 Nationals.

In the top of the 4th the Diamondbacks would get 3 more. Joe Silva, Eddie Aloupis, and Daniel Molina all with hits in the inning. Andrew Blanchette came in relief and stopped the rally with a big K.

In the bottom of the 4th the Nationals bats continued to be too much. A huge triple by Will Tonelli plated a run. After walks to Christian and Andrew it was Patrick Babola with a 2 run double followed by the hot hitting Holden with a 2 run single bringing the lead to 17-5!

As time ran out the Nationals called on there closer Kieran. The Diamonbacks rallied to load the bases but Kieran closed it out with 3 K's. Final score Nationals win 17-5.

Great game. Glad to finally have one we didn't have to shiver through. Best of luck to both teams on the remainder of the season.
