The crazy spring weather cleared out for a nice night at Dean Park tonight. The Giants were host to the Red Sox. Jack Wharton got the start for the visiting Sox and Sota Matsuda got the call for the Giants. Pitching was the story of most of this game.

In the top of the 1st Sota got the first two outs. Jack would walk and steal second. Ian Taylor with a nice line drive double would plate Jack for the games first run.

In the bottom half the 1st Sota would lead off with hit. Jack beared down to get 3 straight K’s.

End of 1st 1-0 Sox

In the top of the 2nd Sota would make a nice play on a comebacker form Andrew Blanchette. Cam Coran would get a nice two out hit and get himself in scoring position but a nice catch by Ryan Moss at Short stop on a ball hit by Jackson Chamberlin would end the inn.

In the bottom of the 2nd the Sox would keep it scoreless. Jack picked up two more k’s and Zak Salovardos would continue his great defense this year fielding a nice play at Second.

End of 2nd 1-0 Sox

In the top of the 3rd the Sox would start a rally. Walks to Demetrios Athanasiou and Zak would leave Jack in a nice spot to drive them in. He hit a hard ball to third but another big defensive play by the giants and a force out at third ended it.

In the bottom of the 3rd Jack started dealing with 3 more k’s.

End of 3rd 1-0 Sox

In the top of the 4th Krew Duprey would get a nice hit. But Isaac Diaz settled in for two k’s and another great catch at shortstop by Ryan Moss off a Dylan Coran hit would end the inning

In the bottom of the 4th it was more Jack Wharton with 3 straight k’s again!

End of 4th 1-0 Sox

In the top of the 5th Ryan Moss came in to pitch for the Giants and he kept his team in it. He would get 2 K’s himself and another great catch at third base by the giants would retire the side.

In the bottom of the 5th Jack wanted to close out one more inning but the giants finally got a rally going. Ryan Moss started the inning with a nice single and would steal 2nd. Jack would get one last K but after a full count walk to Izaiah Skiesto his day would be done. On came the Sox closer Ian Taylor.  Jason Malo would not be phased. He smacked a huuuuuge base hit to left that would drive in Ryan to tie the game! Ian would settle down and strike out the next two batters.

End of 5th tied 1-1

In the Sox last at bat it was set up nicely for them with the top of the order coming to the plate. Max Caputo started it off with a big lead off single. Zak would follow with a big hit right by the third base bag into left field. Max with a great heads up play noticing the 3rd baseman was still out of position made it all the way to 3rd on the play. Jack followed with a deep hit to shortstop. Yet again Sota made a great play and would get Jack at first base. It was deep enough in the infield to drive in Max for the go ahead run. It was followed by Ian’s booming two hop to the fence triple to left center that would drive in Zak.

In the last at bat for the Giants they would not go down without a fight. A base hit by Dante Solitro and a walk to Sota had two aboard and the heart of the Giants line up due up. Ian would bear down though for two huge K’s to end the game!

Final Sox win 3-1
