It was a great night for baseball at Dean 1 field.  An American League match up between the Athletics vs. the Red Sox.  The Sox sent their southpaw, Ryan Walker to the hill.  His battery mate was Dylan Goral.  The A’s sent Colby Coghlin to the mound with his battery mate Colin Yeaton (Welcome Back Colin!).

1st Inning:  The A’s sent five men to the plate.  Hits by Coghlin and Andrew Schmit and some heads up base running scored two runs.  Walker battled hard to get out of the inning.  Coghlin came out throwing strikes.  Tough at bats put on the Red Sox hitters.  They made Coghlin earn it.  A’s 2 – Red Sox 0

2nd Inning:  The A’s led off with two singles by Michael Mendilian and Will McLaren.  Walker fought back and was able to stop the A’s from doing any damage.  Coghlin continued to throw strikes.  The Red Sox came up to the plate being aggressive.  Some great match ups during this inning.  A’s 2 – Red Sox 0

3rd Inning:  The A’s put together back to back doubles by Coghlin and Schmit followed by a walk by Yeaton.  The A’s were able to push across one run.  Walker fought hard and stopped the A’s from having a big inning.  Thomas Crowley got a base hit with some good hustle down the 1st base line.  Coghlin battled back to limit any damage by the Red Sox.  A’s 3 – Red Sox 0

4th inning:  The A’s got a single up the middle by Prep call up Brendan Parisi.  Great hustle up the line!  Walker continued to pitch well and did not allow the A’s to score any runs.  The Red Sox came out swinging.  They hit two balls up the middle that were snagged by Coghlin to help himself get out of the inning.  A’s 3 – Red Sox 0

5th Inning:  The Red Sox sent the tall right handed reliever Jake Pettepit to the mound to face the A’s.  The A’s had a walk by Schmit followed by three straight singles by Yeaton, Mendilian and McLaren.  The A’s scored two runs.  Pettepit came back hard to retire the A’s.  Coghlin was dealing on the mound and retired the Sox without any runs.  A’s 5 – Red Sox 0

6th Inning:  Pettepit came out firing and retired the A’s in order.  Coghlin matched Pettepit and retired the Sox.  Great way for both pitchers to finish the night!

Final: A's 5 - Red Sox 0
