Wednesday night saw the Indians hosting the Angels on Dean 1 in an eagerly anticipated rematch of the Angels victory the previous week.  The Indians sent Kunal Chauhan to the mound and Angels leadoff hitter Connor Mudd smacked a single to start the game, but Kunal handled the next three batters on his own with two strike outs and fielded a grounder to end the inning.  The Angels called on Joey Guidotti to take the hill and Joey, knowing his team was only playing with 8 fielders, quickly sat the Indians down with three strike outs!  No score after one inning.

RZ Bowley cranked a double to start the second inning and Brad Reynolds immediately followed with another double.  Prep call up Owen drew a walk and prep call up Ian made contact to move runners along.  Connor got his second hit of the game with another single…with Frank Goppel and Joey also singling to bring the Angels to four runs scored.  For the Indians, Logan Miller reached base on an error and Ryan McTigue drew a walk…with prep call up Sam Cunniffe contributing a single to bring them home.  Joey was still firing and struck out the side again.  Score after 2 innings:  Angels 4; Indians 2

Kunal kept the Angels off the bases for a scoreless third inning.  Joey struck out the first batter of the third (getting all seven outs during his outing with strike outs!) before handing the pitching duties to RZ Bowley.  Dylan Fuller knocked a ball down the line for a double and scored while Cooper Ackerman and Ryan worked walks around two strike outs by RZ.  Score after 3:  Angels 4; Indians 3

The Indians manager brought in Dylan Fuller as a relief pitcher in the fourth…with Connor Mudd and Mark Ishkanian both reaching base to score while Frank and Joey also reached base.  Catcher Keith Halacy fired to catch a runner trying to steal third, and Dylan struck out the next two batters to end the inning.  Keith then started the Indians 4th with a single, followed by Sam Cunniffe’s second hit of the game.  Kunal also singled, with Dylan and Cooper reaching base before Logan Miller singled to give the Indians the lead.  Score after 4:  Angels 6; Indians 8

Fans were on the edge of their seats as we entered into the fifth inning.  Dylan throwing hard, but Owen connects for a single.  Connor also connects with a long shot to center, but center fielder Chase Kinsky is able to corral it for the second out.  Mark Ishkanian then ropes a single, before Sam Cunniffe snags a hard grounder at second base and throws to first for the final out of the inning.  RZ Bowley keeps his team close as he sits the Indians down quickly with three strike outs in the fifth.  Score after 5:  Angels 6; Indians 8

Joey Guidotti starts the Angels sixth off with a single and advances to second base.  Dylan gets the first out with a strike out, then Brad Reynolds hits a line drive out to right field that looked like a sure double, but Max Domaleski charged at it and grabbed it for an out.  Dylan then fielded a grounder himself for the game’s final out.

A great second game between these two teams – was an exciting one to watch as pitching, hitting and defense all came into play once again to make for some great baseball!
