The long awaited continuation of the season opener finally got under way under a hot and sticky spring night over at Dean Park 1. The Giants played host to the Red Sox. The Giants original opening day starter was Isaac Diaz and the Red Sox countered with Ian Taylor.

Ian was strong out of the gate getting 3 K’s around an Isaac Diaz single in the 1st.

In the bottom of that inning Max Caputo led of with a single and some keen eyes from George Kosheff, Jack Wharton, Krew Duprey and Andrew Blanchette would lead to 2 runs.

End of 1st inn 2-0 Sox

Ian would get 3 more K’s around a walk to Jason Malo in the top of the 2nd and that is when the rains came a pouring and the game was stopped.

In the continuation of the game Sota Matsuda would get the call for the Giants. Dylan Coran would start it off with a single but was cut down trying to extend it into a double on a nice throw from Isaac in foul territory. Ben Chamberlain continued to stay hot with another single but Sota would get 2 K’s to end the side.

End of 2nd inn 2-0 Sox

In the top of the 3rd Ian Taylor would make the return start and continue his bid for the Cy Young award this spring. He would field a nice comebacker for an out and get 2 more K’s.

In the bottom of the 3rd Max Caputo got things going with a lead off single but would be stranded there as Sota would get 2 huge K’s to the heart of the Sox order and force a grounder to 1st to get out of the inning unscathed.

End of 3rd inn 2-0 Sox

Ian kept dealing in the top of the 4th. He would get the first two batters on K’s. Isaac would get a nice 2 strike hit to fight off another Ian fastball. This would lead to another great battle at the plate. Brendon Parisi would foul off four Ian Taylor pitches with 2 strikes on him and eventually draw the walk. By keeping the at bat going that long he would allow for Isaac to generate his own run making his way around the bases. Brendan would try and do the same after his walk but Jack Wharton fired a missile to Max on the steal and cut the runner down at 3rd to retire the side.

In the bottom of the 4th Andrew Blanchette lead it off with a solid hit in between 3rd and SS that made its way into left field. On the next pitch Andrew bolted for 2nd and wound up making it all the way home on the overthrow. The Sox would get one more run as Cam Coran got a walk and Dylan Coran followed with a big double to left to drive in his brother.

End of 4th inn 4-1 Sox

In the 5th inn a full rested Jack Wharton came in firing hot. After a full count walk to Izaiah Skiesto he would get the next two batters on K’s. Izaiah would make the attempt for home on a pass ball later in the inn but a nice aggressive play by Ian to get back to the backstop and then back to the plate to apply the tag for the last out!

In the bottom of the 5th Max Caputo got it going with his 3rd hit of the game but would eventually get tagged out himself on a nice play by the catcher and pitcher at home plate to end the inn.

End of 5th inn 4-1 Sox

In the top of the 6th Jack would lock down his second save of the season making quick work of the Giants on 3 straight K’s.

Final Redsox win 4-1
