On a beautiful May night under the lights, the fans were treated to a pitchers duel by starters Chris McLaughlin and TJ Hutt.  McLaughlin threw 2 and 2/3 shutout innings striking out 8 and Hutt threw 3 innings of 2 run ball striking out 6 of his own.

In the top of the first Jake Linton walked with one out, stole second and came around to score on a Brody Sheard single.  In the bottom of the inning, McLaughlin worked around a lead off walk to Brady O'Connell to strike out the side and get out of the inning unscathed.  1-0 Iron Pigs after one.

In the 2nd, Colin Desruisseaux lead off with a walk, and a few batter later Andrew Stoessel was hit by a pitch, which led to the heads up play of the night from catcher Jrake Baez.  On an attempted double steal, Baez threw behind the lead runner to 2nd for a caught stealing.  Great, heads up play and throw to get the runner.   McLaughlin struck out the side after 2 walks to start the inning to Baez and Purav Patel.  After 2, it was still 1-0 Iron Pigs.

The Iron Pigs added one in the top of the 3rd with a Colson Cotter lead off walk and stolen base.  He'd come around to score on a single by Linton.  In the bottom of the third, McLaughlin struck out the first two batters but a patient approach by William O'Rourke led to a walk that ended McLaughlin's night.  Kevin Lee came on in relief and was faced with the tall task of facing lead off hitter Brady O'Connell.  Lee did a great job inducing a pop up which McLaughlin snared at 3rd base to finish off the inning he started.  After 3, it was 2-0 Iron Pigs.

McLaughlin then helped his own cause with a booming triple to right center with one out in the 4th and he came around to score on a sharp single down the first base line by CJ Hallinan.  After a strikeout and two more walks to Cotter and Cam Marley, Baez, on in relief beared down and got out of the jam with a timely strikeout.  The Bison rallied in the bottom of the 4th with walks to Brayden O'sullivan, Jackson Morgan, Baez, and Patel and a double off the bat of Hutt.  They pushed two runs across and were threatening for more with the bases loaded and one out when the Iron Pigs turned to CJ Hallinan who was able to get out of the inning with two strikeouts.  After 4, it was 3-2 Iron Pigs.

The Iron Pigs bats came alive in the top of the 5th with singles by Linton, Dylan McGonagle, McLaughlin, and Hallinan and a hard hit double to left by Sheard all of which led to 3 runs and pushed the lead to 6-2.  Jacob Karter drew a walk and O'Connell doubled in the top of the 5th but Hallinan was able to strike out the side to close out the game and the win for the Iron Pigs.

A well played game by both teams and a positive change in the weather led to a fun and exciting game.  Best of luck to both teams the rest of the season!
