Stage was set for an inter-league battle between the home Grizzlies and visiting Knights at North Shore field on a cool Wednesday evening.

The Grizzlies sent the "Riders of Rohan" to the mound in this contest and he would be at his best this evening. In the top of the 1st "Ro" would record his first 3 K's of the evening working around a laced single by Charlie "Clark...aka Superman" Kent and walk to Luke MacRae to hold the Knights scoreless. Luke was also chartered to pitch for the Knights and countered with 3 K’s of his own but not before the Grizzlies would open the scoring with 2 runs fueled by a timely hit by “El Grande” Babola. 2-0 Grizzlies after 1.

Rohan returned for the 2nd inning punching out 2 more batters yielding a single to our old Nationals friend "Dec" Carroll and relying on his "D" as Nick Gardula grounded sharply down the line fielded by “El Grande” at the hot corner as the Grizzlies employed their patented “don’t think, just tag the base defense.” In the second Randazza would reach again, Babola would single again and Rohan “Double Machine” Sivakumar would strike again knocking in another run. 3-0 Grizzlies after 2.

The 3rd was a quiet inning for Rohan retiring the side in order all via K. Luke and Eric Hamelin matched a scoreless inning working around a single to “Just Josh” Curtis. 3-0 Grizzlies after 3.

Rohan would record 3 more K’s in the 4th despite a smashed double by Charlie “Superman” Kent. Great play by Jesse Dullea in right field to hold Charlie to a double and eventually stranding him at third base. Eric Hamelin was lights out in the 4th striking out the side in order. 3-0 Grizzlies after 4.

With his pitch count looming Rohan would enter the 5th and record 1 more K, his 12th of the evening. Heroic effort by the “Riders of Rohan.”  “Just Josh” Curtis would relieve Ro yielding only a 2-out RBI single to Nick Gardula. Nate Brodeur would enter for the Knights in the 5th. “Benbino” Rotunno finally starting to use his head was plunked but happily scooted to first ready to swipe second and did so immediately. "Hollywood" Aloisi and Curtis would follow with singles and Dullea and Galarza would reach base all capped off by Babola's third stinging hit of the evening to cap a 5 run rally. 8-1 Grizzlies after 5.

We rolled to the 6th where the Grizzlies leaned on “Just Josh” and “El Grande” to close out the evening thankfully leaving “Superman” Kent on deck. Final score Grizzlies 8, Knights 1.

Many thanks to all players, parents, coaches and fans for their participation in the game.

Special thanks to the ump who had more than his fair share of tough 50/50 calls this evening.

Shout out and thanks to Tyler “Lightning” Bolt for attending and cheering on his team while nursing his injury. We wish both Tyler and Coop Lindsey a speedy recovery.
