Listening to music is a large part of the iPhone user experience, so it’s no surprise to see that Apple has invested in its own Apple Music platform for users to subscribe to in addition to the plethora of third-party alternatives that exist in the App Store. But if you’re jailbroken, then there are a lot of ways you can further enhance the music listening experience.
In today’s piece, we’ll be going over some of what we consider to be the best jailbreak tweaks for improving the music listening experience on jailbroken iOS 15 and 16 devices. Whether it’s making the Now Playing interface look better or adding more features to your favorite music app, we’ve got some ideas for you.
Follow along as we discuss some of our favorite iOS 15 and 16-compatible music-enhancing jailbreak tweaks below.
Best Music jailbreak tweaks for iOS 16
Mitsuha 6
When we’re talking about jailbreak tweaks that add some spice to the Now Playing interface on jailbroken iPhones running iOS 15 or 16, it’s hard to skip Mitsuha 6.
Mitsuha 6 is a longtime favorite of the iDownloadBlog staff, and it allows you to have customizable waveforms on your Now Playing interface that respond to the noises coming from your music playback. There are literally several different waveform options to pick from, and you can further customize those based on what your aesthetic preferences are.

Gestune
For those wanting a more intuitive way to control their music playback from the Now Playing interface, it’d be wise not to turn a blind eye toward the Gestune jailbreak tweak.
Gestune lets you control your music without tapping on the little buttons in the Now Playing interface, and rather by taking advantage of swipe gestures, double-taps, and long presses to control your music. This way, you aren’t spending so much time to make sure you’re tapping the right button but rather using a gesture anywhere on the interface.

MutePlay
I have a strong dislike of how iOS reduces the volume of my music playback whenever an incoming notification comes in, especially since my friends can’t seem to get their point across with a complete sentence in a single text message, but rather back-to-back messages.
For anyone in a similar boat, MutePlay is a must-have jailbreak tweak, and that’s because it prevents incoming notification sounds from disrupting your music playback. The result is that incoming notification sounds don’t play over your favorite bass drop or guitar solo, which can kill the mood.

Kiyoharu
Everyone has that one favorite portion about a particular song, whether it’s a bass drop, a guitar solo, an instrumental scene, or lead singer just grabbing the microphone and going nuts.
If you like to re-hear that one part of a song frequently without having to listen through the entirety of the song again, then the Kiyoharu jailbreak tweak is for you. It lets you designate your favorite portion of any song and makes it easier to re-hear just that one section of the song for a second time.

NowPlayingIconXVI
The plane Jane app icon of whatever app you’re listening to music on is fine, but when you jailbreak your iPhone, you can do a lot more with it.
For example, the NowPlayingIconXVI jailbreak tweak replaces the standard app icon of whatever app you’re using to listen to music with the artwork of the album you’re listening to. It’s a subtle, but nice modification that helps complement your Now Playing user experience on a pwned handset.

Sushi
There’s a better way to control your music from the Home Screen, and it comes in the form of a jailbreak tweak called Sushi.
With Sushi, you get to enjoy an upgraded Now Playing widget that you can access from virtually anywhere on the Home Screen, and it’s highly configurable. You can use this widget to control music playback, see song progress, and more.

N95
While it may be named after a respirator device, the N95 jailbreak tweak is anything but. Instead, it’s an add-on that makes your Now Playing music experience more aesthetically enjoyable on your jailbroken iOS device.
N95 can be used to apply unique and artistically tasteful masks to the album artwork in any Now Playing interface, whether that’s in the Now Playing app itself, or on the Lock Screen. It works with a wide array of different music apps, including not only Apple Music, but also Spotify and many others.

MusicTrail
If you care about what songs that you’ve listened to in the past, then you may be one of those people who could benefit from the running history list of your music. This can help you go back and find something you enjoyed hearing while you were too busy to Shazam it.
The MusicTrail jailbreak tweak is one such add-on, and it lets you view a running history of music played in the Spotify Music application on jailbroken devices. With it, you can easily see what you’ve listened to recently and either re-play those songs or take note of it for later.

MusicAlert
Starting with iOS 16.4, Apple Music displays an action alert when certain things happen inside of the Apple Music app.
If you’re jailbroken on iOS 16.3.1 or below, then you might be interested in porting this feature to your device, and this is something you can do with the MusicAlert jailbreak tweak. Some of those alerts include whether you’re playing the next or last track in a playlist, whether you’ve loved or unloved a track, or when you’ve added a song to your library or to a playlist.

MusicArtworkSave
Sometimes when you’re playing a song on your iPhone, you come across an album artwork that looks so sick that you wish you could save it onto your device.
While you can’t do this on a stock handset without taking a screenshot and cropping in, the MusicArtworkSave jailbreak tweak lets you save the album artwork file directly from the Apple Music app, and it saves the file into your device’s native Photo Library.
You can learn more about MusicArtworkSave in our full review post.
CanvasSync

Something unique about the Spotify Music app is that sometimes you get to see what Spotify calls Canvas when tracks are playing.
If you’ve ever wanted to use a Now Playing track’s album artwork or the Spotify Canvas as your handset’s temporary wallpaper for as long as it’s playing, then the CanvasSync jailbreak tweak is right up your alley.

Reo
If you’re looking for a more customizable Lock Screen music player on your jailbroken iOS 15 or 16 device, then you should probably take a good look at Reo and see if it offers what you’re looking for.
Reo can make any Lock Screen’s Now Playing interface look fancy. Whether you like the idea of custom colors, backgrounds, interface borders, animations, color styles, changing up the font, or something else, there’s a little bit of everything for everyone in this tweak.

ArtFull
There’s a redesigned Music app in the iOS 17 software update that jailbroken users of iOS 15 and 16 won’t see without updating and losing their jailbreak.
Fortunately, there’s a jailbreak tweak that you can get called ArtFull that ports the iOS 17 Music app’s user experience to these jailbroken devices so that no software update is necessary, and it’s a pretty nice carbon copy if we do say so ourselves.

JumpSkipReborn
Looking for a new and exciting way to control your music playback without even having to pull your iPhone out of your pocket? If so, then JumpSkipReborn is a great jailbreak tweak to check out.
With JumpSkipReborn, you can configure your volume buttons so that they work in mysterious ways to control your music playback. For example, pressing volume up and volume down at the same time could play or pause a track, while pressing volume down and then up might move you to the next track. There are a lot of different gestures to memorize and take advantage of.
